I am thankful for...
- The faith I have built. - It has taken me 22 years and many moments of questioning, doubt, and fear to find my faith and hope. Every moment of questioning was worth it and has helped me to find peace in my life.
- My amazing parents- they will do anything for me, have supported me through this journey, and continue to support me and encourage me in all that I do.
- My friends- where to begin with this... some of them have been through absolutely everything with me. Some have been with through the hardest nights of my life cheering me on to get the help I needed and find hope in my life. Others have come into my life after that and have helped me to take further steps to continue finding peace and happiness in my life. I am so incredibly blessed with selfless and loving people in my life who I have so much fun with and have created memories that will last a life time. I am thankful for the fun we have and the time we can spend together with nothing to do and still make it fun, exciting, and enjoyable.
- Coffee- I wouldn't be getting through college or student teaching with out it. A nice cup of coffee allows me a moment to sit relax and ground myself to my values and needs. It helps me to regroup and reset even if only for the brief moment it takes to take a sip while a child comes running into the classroom anxious to tell me everything they did this weekend. Coffee is the taste of peace and reset.
- Music-Music has been a huge support for me and continues to be a force of peace and enjoyment for me. During the worst times in my journey I could relate to the great Maya Angelou's quote "Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness".I would close the door to my studio and practice, and practice until I was numb to the pain I was experiencing and fully immerse into the music that I was playing. It was my safe place to feel and express openly.
- My opportunity to have get a fantastic education at LVC
- Sunny Mornings with no where to go
- A cup of tea on my bed looking out the window over campus.
- Listening to music with my eyes closed in a comfy place.
- Spending time snuggled with my dog
- Fresh cut flowers
- An afternoon walk in the warm sun
- Falling leaves
- A soft gentle breeze
- A child's smile
- The eagerness of my students to share
- a good book on a quiet day
And the list could continue on and on forever but these are just a few that I thought of at the moment. As you are going about your day try to think of the things you are thankful for in your life. It always inspires me and helps me to find peace in the rough moments when I go through a list of blessings I have. Find what you are thankful for and live your life to the fullest. Enjoy your day and find blessings in your day.
