Floating Up
Over the last 5 years my list of things that make me happy has been ever changing. I remember it starting out really negative. I had been challenged when hospitalized to write my top 10 list of things I wanted/needed to be happy. They told us they could be anything. When looking back in one of my original journals the first 9 things on the list were "Nope, its not possible" and the 10th thing was "stop asking me to be happy". Then in a later journal when I was asked to do this again I wrote more positive things then nope, and not possible. I wrote things like, stop crying, and talking with friends or therapist, or medication. At that time those were things I needed to be happy. Now my list has changed again and I am sure it will change after this too. It is ever changing.
I am not a huge fan of making lists of things that will make me happy because while there are key components for me what I need to be happy and do for myself is an ever changing list. So below you will find a general list of 10 things I have found that help me in my journey of happiness. For each person it is a very individual process and at times a checks and balances type system. There is no right or wrong answer in this matter so take the list I have made for what it is. If you would like to try it, go for it. If you want to try your own list go for that too. I encourage all of my readers to pursue their happiness in the best way for them.
1. Give myself alone time and space when I need it
2. Surround myself with positive people and my support system.
3. Daily Reflection and Mindfulness Practice
4. Focus on the positive in my life.
5. Be aware of my needs and wants.
6. Write it down- Whether it be something I need to remember or writing down my emotions, writing it down allows me to write it and let it go.
7. Leave judgment behind- remind myself that I don't need to judge myself and my decisions. I have made those choices for a reason and I am doing my best at that moment.
8. Realize the things I can control and the things I can't control and accept it for what it is.
9. Trust myself- Trust that I will make the right choice for me and I am capable of whatever I set my mind to.
10. Say exactly what I mean- No more sugar coating.
I hope you enjoyed and think of the many things that make you happy in your life.
Have a great Tuesday!
