College is vastly different then what I was use to prior to stepping on LVC's campus. Although it might be different I love it! It has been a month since I first moved onto campus and in that month I have been busier then ever! Of course it is marching band season which always makes life a little more hectic then normal which can often be stressful but for some reason I keep putting myself in the same situation when marching band season comes around again. I can't tell you why but there is something that sucks you in and keeps you coming back. Maybe its the friends that become family, the love for music, the love/need for perfection or the fun of all the craziness that occurs, but in any case being part of the Pride of the Valley has kept me busy and helped me to form a strong group of friends. Other then marching band my classes keep me extremely busy, of course there are some that I like much better then others which of course is normal. My general ed. classes are sometimes taunting and boring to me, at times they seem 'unnessasary' and just more of a pain then anything. I am sure looking back in a few years I will realize the benefits that these classes have given me but for now they just cause me more stress. I find myself being much less productive in these classes and find it much harder to have any motivation what so ever to do my work. I have found that any music or education class I am taking are the ones I look forward to and find myself being the most productive, perhaps this is due to the fact that these are the things I actually enjoy. My educations courses give me the opportunity to find the "teacher" in me. It gives me the chance to get into a pre-k classroom and work with kids, helping them learn and do projects. I find it to be more fun then work. It shows me that I am in the right place and I have chosen the right field. Then from a music stand point, those hours in my day are my hours of sanity. The hours that nothing else matters but the flute in my hands, the music in front of me, and the chance to make beautiful music. It gives me a chance to de-stress and wind down from all the other crazy classes, and stresses I have. Then of course there is the social part, which for me is a fantastic group of crazy people that I really do love. We have known each other for only a month but have the greatest time together, they crazy things we do and the fun we have doing the stupidest and normally most boring things ever entertain me greatly. College so far has been a great experience, no matter the stresses that come I know the reward of it all will be worth it.
