Balancing Act

                     Finding Balance. These two words dictate my feelings, emotions, and physical being on so many levels. I am a person of passion and love for the things that I do, but sometimes it is awful hard to find balance in your life when you have passion and a desire to do everything you can to be successful in what you do. This semester is the ultimate test for me in balance while here at college. Student teaching is amazing and I so far have loved every moment of it, even the paper work. I have had a passion to teach from the time I walked into my first grade classroom and felt the warm loving difference that my first grade teacher made in my life. From first grade on I have always answered the inevitable "what are you going to be when you grow up?" with being an elementary school teacher. Nothing has wavered since that day 15 years ago. But now comes the test of  my ability to find balance and stay healthy....

Creating Space

A comfy space to curl up and relax after a fun day with the kiddos.  A positive work area! Filled with supplies and positive affirmations.  Now that I finally have gotten everything in my room at school hung up and put in its place I wanted to share the thoughts and logic behind creating a space for myself to learn, grow and take care of myself. The first thing that is so important to me and really affects me is colors. The color of rooms, clothing, and objects around me really affect the moods and emotions that I take on. This year for my room I choose to go with a lighter and calmer set of colors. In the past my room has been bright pink and had extremely bright and energizing colors. So this year I went with greens and blues with one small hint of pink in the room. This has really helped me to stay calm and work through anxiety and emotions that I am feeling in a more relaxed environment. We often don't think or realize how important the physical space tha...
