Who said it's Impossible?!?
In the last few weeks my Family and I have done things that just a few short months ago we were told would likely be impossible, but we beat the odds. We have been able to continue to enjoy the things we have always loved doing despite the fears that we never would be able to again. After my Dad was hospitalized over the new year we thought our days of travelling together as a family were over. We questioned what we were going to be able to do and if we were going to even be able to take short trips but a few weeks ago we over came the fear and we took a short trip to Washington D.C.! One of the things my dad has wanted to see was the Space Shuttle 'Discovery' that is now in the Air in Space Museum on display. My Dad has always loved space and been very interested in the space program. This was huge for him to be able to see. He felt he would never see it and wanted to so badly so to get him there and make sure he got to see it was extremely important to my mom and I. Yes it was a little bit harder for us to see it and there were struggles along the way but it was worth every second. It was worth every trouble and problem that came up. To see the smile on his face as we pushed him into the exhibit filled my eyes with tears. For me it was one of the sweetest moments. Knowing that we got him there, that he got to see what a few months ago he told me he would never see and in optimistic spirits I had reassured him he would, truly unsure if what I had just reassured him of was actually going to happen. It was like we had accomplished something huge when we were standing right next to the huge shuttle! We had overcome the fears, the hopelessness, and the challenges we all thought we never would overcome. It was a moment I will never forget and one I will always treasure because of the smile that was painted across his face. A smile we don't always see anymore. A week after taking the trip to D.C. we took another short outing to the Iron Pigs game with my Mom's work. We sat in the dugout suites right behind home plate Anyone who knows my Dad knows this was a huge highlight! He is an avid baseball fan and loves everything baseball and to get the opportunity to sit just a few feet behind home plate put a huge smile on his face. It was a great time and another things that we got to do with him. It gives me hope that we can overcome the odds and the statistics that are thrown up against us and we can overcome this never ending battle. It is teaching me to have faith when you feel it is impossible. To have faith that there is a bigger plan and that nothing is ever impossible.
